INTRO

A new Zlide and a new Coolfire? It was past due! Here’s a brief journey down memory lane to explain why this is exciting news if you’re not sure why. For almost a decade, the Coolfire line of box mods has been among the best-selling product categories. They have always been cutting-edge gadgets that are also user-friendly for beginners, keeping with Innokin’s purpose. Regarding the Zlide tank from 2019, MTL vapers loved it right away because it was hassle-free and worked with some of the greatest coils on the market, the Z-coils.

A 60-watt internal battery mod is called the Z60. It has a 2500 mAh battery and the most recent cutting-edge Innokin modes (Refresh and Coil+). The eagerly anticipated Zlide Top is an MTL/RDL top airflow sub ohm tank created by Dimitris Agrafiotis and Phil Busardo. It has a 3 mL juice capacity and an entirely adjustable airflow slot. Discover what this kit has to offer and whether the new Zlide tank can win over one of the original’s biggest admirers by reading on.

BUILD QUALITY AND DESIGN

The Coolfire Z60 mod adopts the line’s recognisable elegant style. The body is composed of brushed metal on the top third and matte metal on just over two-thirds of it. The mod weighs 128 grammes while having a small, 74 mm by 38 mm by 27.2 mm size. Although it’s lighter than a 18650-powered mod, I’d say it’s about average for an internal battery mod. The mod can accommodate atomizers with a tank diameter of up to 25 mm without any overhang.

With the exception of the leather-backed Z80, which I adore, my Coolfire mods do have the propensity to deteriorate very quickly. They continue to work, but let’s just say they appear older. The Z60 appears perfect right out of the box, but every single one of the units I received has small scratches from my pocket, and the one I fell had a few tiny dents as well. You’ll need to use caution if you want them to endure. If you don’t vape that way, you should probably buy a mod with a rubberized coating.

Regarding the tank, the Zlide Top is likely the most attractive Innokin tank to date. It successfully combines a classic design with some contemporary elements, and it looks fantastic on the Coolfire Z60 mod. It has a 24 mm diameter, so my only concern is that it’s a bit huge for a 3 mL tank with the straight glass on. When I unboxed it, I was sure it would hold at least 4 mL. The situation was considerably worse for me because I received the TPD edition, which only holds 2 mL of juice. The 4.5 mL replacement bubble glass that comes with the basic edition increases capacity but, in my opinion, lessens aesthetic appeal. The chamber required for the top airflow design takes up a sizable portion of the tank’s interior. As a result, you will need to tilt the tank when the juice level is low in order to help the juice reach the wicks, and you will need to replenish the tank before it runs out in order to prevent dry hits. I can’t really complain, though, because designs like this are just the way things are.

COOLFIRE Z60 MOD

The newest chipset from Innokin, which powers the Coolfire Z60, has two of the three intriguing modes that were first revealed with the Sensis pod mod. The mod has three preset power modes: Refresh, regular Wattage mode, and Coil+ mode. Here is a list of fundamental operations:

  • Press fire three times to turn the mod on/off.
  • There’s also an on/off switch at the bottom of the mod.
  • Press up or down until the wattage blinks to adjust it.
  • Press up and down to enter the menu (you can pick a mode, set the puff cutoff duration, and screen timeout.)
  • Press fire and up to see detailed charge level, resistance, and a number of puffs.
  • Press fire and down to lock the mod (can still fire).

Coil+ is a power option that keeps your coil firing at 40% of its wattage for a further 0.4 seconds after you let go of the button. I was first dubious about this functionality, but now that I’ve been using a 0.6-ohm coil for almost two weeks, I’m almost convinced. especially after testing the manual Refresh function, which accomplishes the same task. In fact, I am confident that I managed to revive an overused coil by using that function. I was low on juice, took a long puff, and had some nasty dry flavour. Refilled the tank, went straight into manual Refresh mode, fired it for the full duration, and the coil vaped much better after that.

THE ZLIDE TOP TANK

It will be difficult, but I’ll do my best to keep this part from turning into an ode to the first Zlide tank. I’ve been using the Zlide every day since I reviewed it back in 2019 since it is by far my favourite MTL tank of all time. Actually, I’ve been using two of them every day since then. Is my all-time favourite MTL tank an upgrade to the Zlide Top? Sincerely, I don’t believe that. This is why.

The top airflow layout and the RDL capability are the two key upgrades here. The only reason I can think of for employing such a design for top airflow is to stop leaks. However, the original Zlide simply does not leak! It’s the easiest tank I’ve ever used, and I really like the original tank’s airflow better than the Top’s slot. While taste has never been the Zlide’s main selling point, the Zlide Top falls short in this area as well because the top airflow design must give up some flavour because of the length of the tank’s interior. Combining the two, the airflow design seems more like a novelty element than a genuine improvement in the user experience.

BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGING

You’ll adore the battery life if you plan to use this kit for MTL vaping. 2500 mAh battery easily lasted for a whole day when used with the 0.6-ohm and 0.8-ohm coils. A Type-C port on the bottom front is used to charge the smartphone. I timed a full charge at around two hours, which is just about acceptable given the battery capacity but could be done much quicker. Although Innokin claims to charge at 2A, the figures indicate that the charge rate isn’t much more than 1.5A.

Here, two things are noteworthy. First, as is the case with many Innokin mods, the screen turns off while the device is charging. Although I don’t enjoy pressing a button to check the charge, it’s not a major deal.

Second, after hitting the up button to check for the charge, I heard one of my mods firing (for milliseconds). It has just happened once, so it might have been a sticky fire button or I accidentally switched on the refresh mode. I’ll mention it in the drawbacks and keep a watch out, but I won’t interpret it too seriously. In any event, you shouldn’t let modifications charge while you’re using them, and you should always use the on/off switch if you see something odd.

VERDICT

The Zlide Top is a superb MTL tank with some RDL capabilities, and the Coolfire Z60 is a dependable and upscale-looking box mod with a long battery life. The only catch is that, in my opinion, if you already own the original Zlide and just vape in MTL, you won’t see much of an upgrade. Give this kit a look if you don’t already own a Zlide, especially if you occasionally dabble in RDL. It appeals to both novice and experienced vapers and has a fantastic appearance, feels, and performance. Just remember to include some of the 0.8-ohm coils in your order because these are likely the most durable and effective MTL coils you can find.
