INTRO
The Doric 20 SE is everything a portable pod gadget could ever be. It is lightweight, tiny, and based on a mini tube design, making it easy to carry with you wherever you go. With a tiny 1500mah internal battery, 1ohm/1.2ohm high resistance coils, 3 power settings, dual fire modes (button fire and auto-draw), and a 2ml e-liquid capacity, this little champ clearly targets mouth-to-lung vapers.

DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY
It’s usually a good idea to keep things easy for newcomers and smokers who are transitioning, in my opinion. But if I said its aesthetic appeal didn’t strike me, I’d be lying. The Doric has a contemporary matte finish similar to that of more recent gadgets like the Caliburn A2 and the JUUL. However, it has a traditional vape pen design, so it’s like a fresh spin on an old favourite. With a complete pod fitted, the device measures 124 mm in length, and 19 mm in diameter, and weighs a little under 53 grammes.
It isn’t any more difficult than is necessary. Your adjustable air intake, firing button, and charge port are next, and the pod tank clamps in firmly on top. To fill the tank, a typical rubber flap is present, just like in pod systems like the Nord. Last but not least, there is an LED for the battery and power indicator on top of a clicky oval-shaped fire button. A rough rubber layer on the bottom of the Doric is there to add stability, according to the manufacturer. It knocks down rather easily since, in my experience, standing it up simply makes it less stable. Although I applaud their efforts, I believe it to be counterproductive given that they might have just levelled it out.
BATTERY
The inbuilt 1200 mAh battery of the Doric has three power output levels. They are marked by red, blue, and green lights and range in power from 8 to 18 watts. Sadly, the battery life indicator also makes use of the same colours. This is a summary of it:
- Green: 60-100%
- Blue: 33-66%
- Red: <33%
The Doric’s 1200 mAh battery life is more than adequate to last me a whole day because it only outputs up to 18 watts. Actually, it’s enough to get me through a whole pod, which took me closer to two days or a day and a half.
Based on your output settings, this may change. The lower settings, in my opinion, provided more than enough power for nic salts. If you want to change the power setting by pressing the power button three times, you’ll need a pod fitted. I don’t recommend doing this with a brand-new coil installed because you’ll have to pulse the coil several times, which can reduce its lifespan. The provided USB-C cable works well to charge the Doric in roughly an hour. In light of its overall low power output, the Doric boasts a huge battery capacity. When using 50 mg nic salt, I don’t go through as many tanks as I did when using 6 mg e-liquid.
PERFORMANCE
I put the Doric to the test with e-liquids ranging from 50 to 70 VG and different nicotine concentrations. I began with some 15 mg nic salt, which wasn’t that impressive. I consumed that first tank in a single evening. I then tried about 50 mg of nic salt, but it felt excessive. So it must distribute nicotine very efficiently—almost too efficiently! Later, I tried some 70VG freebase juice, and the coils showed no signs of difficulty wicking the thicker liquids.
Therefore, the Doric performed equally well with ordinary 6 mg freebase e-liquid and nicotine salt. It’s excellent to hear that it can perform both, however, I prefer it with nic salt due to the lower power output. The Doric 20 would make a good beginner kit for vaping CBD e-liquid, in my opinion.
Depending on how your airflow is set up, both coils offered a comparable sort of pull. For the past week, I’ve been chain vaping on both of them every day, and the flavour hasn’t diminished significantly. With each coil, I’ve gone through at least 4-5 refills. I anticipate that I’ll use both of these coil heads for at least another week. Although I didn’t see a significant difference between the two resistances, I would advise saving the coil with the higher nic content—1.2 ohm—for that use.
COILS AND FLAVOUR
When I first used the 1.0-ohm coil, the flavour and performance absolutely astounded me! The flavour is distinct and the produced vapour is sufficiently dense. The majority of the time, I utilised this coil at its maximum power setting, or 14W. Although 14W isn’t much, this mesh-made coil nevertheless produces a warm vape, which is quite excellent. One of the best MTL stock coils available right now, I’d give the flavour of this coil an 8 out of 10.
A comparable vape was produced with the 1.2-ohm coil, albeit with a bit less warmth and flavour. This is expected, I believe, given that the coil’s maximum output is 12W. Its flavour, which I would give a 7 out of 10, is perfect for people who enjoy a moderately chilly vape.
