Product Review of Smok R Kiss 2

INTRO

Since the T-Priv 2 was my first “real” DL vaporizer, Smok holds a particular place in my heart. I’ve also always been a lover of their unique designs. I’m not sure what the “R” stands for, but it’s pretty evident that the R-KISS 2 is more rational than earlier iterations and adheres to the KISS philosophy, which stands for Keep It Simple and Stupid. Rubbery? The phrase “Rubbery Kiss” brings back some strange recollections, although it does have a rubberized coating.

Smok has generally played it safe with this kit; it has a straightforward interface, a clean, huge screen, simple style, and it utilises the well-liked TF V8 Mini (also known as Baby V2) tank. For me, the addition of this excellent tank was the deciding factor because, despite being more than two years old, I believe it to be Smok’s best tank yet.

DESIGN AND BUILD QUALITY

I must admit that when I first opened the kit, I was overcome with awe and, to a lesser extent, a sense of nostalgia for the early days of vaping; in my opinion, this is a true box mod, no matter what you use as a topper! Out of the box Smok RKiss2 display. While personally, I’m not a big lover of Smok tanks (too thirsty), you can’t argue with the results of the TFV18 micro, and this is a well-designed kit that has a nice quality to it. The size and weight are fantastic!

PERFORMANCE

It was time to start vaping, so I put the restrictions aside. The S1 Mesh 0.15 ohm coil has a power range of 40 to 80 watts but performs best at 60 to 70 watts. Experience told me that 66 watts were where I should aim for (I typically use 66.6 watts, but there are no decimal spaces, ugh!). It’s one of those tanks where I enjoy taking a really long pull because the vape quality is simply so good, with a full, flavorful draw that is full of air and plenty of vapour output. From a very little draw down to a cheek-pulling RDL, the airflow is controlled.

Depending on the type of cell you select, battery life will vary, but most will easily last all day and into the night. Separate battery symbols and percentages are displayed on the charging screen, and it charges at a respectable 2 Amps. As I don’t want to run my batteries too low, the longest wait time I experienced was 1 12 hours. However, on average, I just had to wait less than an hour. A little bit of top-up charging will extend your use.

BATTERY

Love it or hate it, the battery door is what it is: a slide-out, flip-up door. Although it is currently tight in place, in my experience, this type of door can get slack with time. The standard safety symbols are printed on the door, and Smok also created them. The plastic 18650 battery compartment has been lined with inserted plastic sleeves, and if you look inside the compartment you will see the normal red + and blue – symbols for battery orientation. The gold-plated contacts inside are spring-loaded. When you open the door, you will see the standard gold-plated contact points with B and A and the – + symbols highlighted in white.

PROS

  • Good quality kit
  • Nicely designed kit
  • A stable reliable performance
  • TFV18 mini had thick vapour production with good flavour

CONS

  • The TFV18 mini airflow is very airy and quite noisy
  • Sleeve mouthpiece
  • Bypass mode runs very hotly at least for me lol

1 x TFV18 Mini Tank (2ml)
1 x V18 Mini Meshed 0.33Ω Coil (Preinstalled)
1 x V18 Mini Dual Meshed 0.15Ω Coil

CONCLUSION

I’m really impressed with the TFV18 mini’s ability to create vapour and maintain a consistent flavour. The amount of power routed through the coils when I tested the kit in bypass mode more than a little put me off. If you like a lot of vapour and a hot vape, the R-Kiss 2 can handle the power. The mod looks beautiful and works amazingly. This is a kit for experienced cloud chasers, in my opinion.
