Review of Product Vaporesso Luxe 80S

INTRO

LUXE 80 S has softly curved sides and a shape that resembles a rectangle; it is incredibly comfortable to grasp in the hand. There are presently 5 colour and design variants available, with the side panels changing but the chassis remains the same. The main firing button is located on the front of the mod, followed by the screen and the up and down buttons. It’s been pretty responsive thus far, and I’ve always liked the AXON chip that’s built-in.

Although I don’t like the design options, I can see why others could like it because it’s clean and looks beautiful. Just keep that in mind, along with the fact that you can’t use this with another tank, as well as the fact that the front and rear panels don’t match, which really annoys me. Additionally, there is an internal battery mod that holds a 2500mAh battery; however, the 80 S requires that one of the panels be removed in order to reach the battery.

DESIGN AND QUALITY

On one side of the body made of high-strength stainless steel is a plastic-coated sticker that depicts the colour scheme. The opposite side is complemented by a faux leather finish. It has some give and is quite spongy. In the palm of the hand, it feels quite cosy. The height of the battery is 68.2mm when the docking chamber for the pods is disregarded. While the depth is as specified in the handbook, Vaporesso is taking into account the elevated fire and menu buttons with their width specifications. The battery is generally relatively small and portable.

To make room for the fixed pod chamber, it tapers off at the back. In the middle of the chamber are two gold-plated coil contacts that are spring-loaded. There are two fixed ventilation slots on either side, each measuring around 13 mm in width and a little under 2 mm in height. The contour lines in the battery part are fairly numerous and circle the base. No sharp edges exist, which adds to the general comfort of holding it in the hand. Despite being a good size, the fire button has a somewhat squishy feel to it. When pressed, there is a noticeable click when the menu buttons are pressed. Both react quickly when used. The type C USB charging port is situated beneath both menu buttons. Another convenience is that charging in a vertical posture won’t present any issues.

POD

You can see my previous review of this pod here in my review of the GTX GO 80. I’ll give a brief summary here anyway for convenience. The pod itself uses well-liked GTX coils and has a conventional push-and-pull design. There are now 8 GTX coils available, one of which is an RBA. Some of these I’ve never actually seen before, and the Vaporesso website’s information about which ones work with the GTX 26 Pod is very perplexing. The two coils are as follows:

  • 0.3ohm (32 to 45w) – Slightly restrictive, but not by a lot. Closing the airflow only increased the temperature for me so I preferred to leave it fully open. The flavour is good.
  • 0.2ohm (45 to 60w) – Very airy with the airflow open fully, flavour is solid for a pod kit.

Although both coils provided similar performance and lasted just over a week each, I believe it would have been preferable to have a coil that was closer to the 0.6-ohm range. The top cap and the mouthpiece, which do feel a little cheap but haven’t broken yet, must be removed in order to refill the pod. When using the AXON chip, there is a tiny whirling occasionally at lower volume levels, but when you turn it up to the suggested amount, it stops and isn’t very loud.

PROS

  • Instant firing
  • Excellent flavour and cloud production from both GTX mesh coils
  • Smart variable wattage mode is a huge plus
  • Informative display (best wattage parameters)
  • Easy-to-navigate menu’s
  • Compact and ergonomic design

CONS

  • Both coils are prone to leaking from their base
  • The 0.3ohm mesh coil whistles under tighter airflow restriction
  • The removable top cap feels cheap (subjective)

FINAL THOUGHTS

The “Hybrid” design of kits is unquestionably the newest trend in vaping. These combine the concept of a pod mod with some added power. Kits like the Voopoo Drag Max help close the gap between the current pod systems and the high-powered mods of the past. The new LUXE kits are unquestionably the best in this category! You receive a pod system’s portable, condensed design. However, you also receive the strength of a true box mod. It’s a win-win scenario here!

Should you want to experiment with rebuildable coils, the LUXE tank system also supports those possibilities. The RBA section on the majority of these pod systems has, in my opinion, been quite subpar. But it might be effective for you! Overall, the Vaporesso LUXE is a fantastic option for new vapers because it does everything. The entire system is incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. Likewise, you could be pleasantly surprised by how fantastic the LUXE is if you are an experienced vaper looking for something portable that doesn’t skimp on power.
